Mel took one little class on dog behavior and before she knew it she was devouring every book on the topic and received her certification as a professional dog trainer (CPDT-KA). She then launched Dogpanion based in San Diego, specializing in puppies. Since then she has gone on to achieve additional certifications, and now Separation Anxiety Pro Trainer. Mel’s focus has always been working with her clients to help them understand their pet dogs’ training and behavior needs and make this as enjoyable and stress-free as possible. Using only science and evidence-based methods, she prides herself on working closely with owners to help them through what can often prove to be emotionally challenging problems. Mel is proud to be a SA Pro Trainer and adds this valuable service to those she already offers her clients who (with the advent of online training) are located across North America.

Jackie Moyano

Jackie Moyano transitioned careers from a respiratory therapist to dog training. In addition to caring for patients, she also taught both patients and respiratory therapy students. Jackie’s medical teaching experience lends itself well to teaching people how to train their dogs. Pssst! Dog training is really people training! Jackie’s dog training expertise and education comes from completing 3 of Pat Miller’s training academies, attending Ken Ramirez’ Animal Training Seminar at SHEDD Aquarium, attending Sue Sternberg’s Eden Internship working with Alaskan husky sled dogs, plus completing all 5 of the Bailey-Farhoody chicken workshops where Jackie learned animal training science and practiced training skills with chickens. Jackie actively pursues continuing education and recently added a separation anxiety credential, SAPro to her name. Jackie’s training partners are her Siamese cat and her Dachshund Terrier mix.

Victoria Hohlfeld, IAABC-ADT, SA Pro, works for Wag the Dog and Company in the Milwaukee, WI area. Victoria works one-on-one with families with newly adopted puppies, adolescents, and adults in need of guidance with basic family dog socialization and manners. Victoria is an Accredited Dog Trainer (ADT) certified through the International Association of Animal Behavior Consultants (IAABC). Additionally, she is a Separation Anxiety Pro Trainer (SA Pro), a Fear-Free certified professional, and a graduate of the Fear-Free Shelter Program. Prior to joining Wag the Dog and Company in 2020, she worked for eight years managing a rescue and adoption program working with pit bull-type dogs where she dedicated herself to working with families under the mottos of ‘when you know better, you do better’ and ‘dog training is something we should be doing with our dogs, not to them’. In her spare time, she manages support programming for a local dog-related non-profit organization and volunteers for the ASPCA & HSUS as a responder, working with dogs rescued from cruelty cases. Victoria lives with her husband and two fur kids, Tank and Penny!

Victoria has been working in animal behaviour and welfare since 2000 where she started using positive reinforcement methods to train neglected horses. She attended school at the University of Guelph receiving a Bachelor degree in animal sciences with an emphasis on animal nutrition and behaviour. She also received a Master’s degree in Science from the Animal Behaviour and Welfare department at Guelph University. She attended her veterinary medicine degree at Edinburgh University in the UK; graduating in 2015 and practising in the UK before returning to Canada in 2016. Animal nutrition, behaviour, and welfare continue to be her main areas of interest. She is especially passionate about fear and force-free methods. Her favourite areas of interest in training are separation anxiety, cat behaviour, child safety with dogs, and trick training in dogs and cats. Torie Silletto

As a staff member of the San Francisco SPCA Behavior & Training team, Torie worked extensively with shelter dogs in need of behavior modification. She also specialized in enrichment and welfare, puppy socialization, and taught ongoing classes for staff and volunteers. She further honed her skills at the East Bay SPCA where she taught public dog training classes.​ Torie is an Honors graduate of The Academy for Dog Trainers, an advanced two-year course of study that is highly regarded as the “Harvard for dog trainers.” She is a Professional Canine Behavior Consultant (Accredited) and a Certified Professional Dog Trainer, Knowledge-Assessed. She has also completed the Aggression in Dogs Master Course and is a member of Pet Professional Guild and the International Association of Animal Behavior Consultants.​ No matter the problem, Torie is well equipped to provide solutions. As a lifelong animal welfare advocate, she never has and never will use pain or fear to make a dog behave.
