As a staff member of the San Francisco SPCA Behavior & Training team, Torie worked extensively with shelter dogs in need of behavior modification. She also specialized in enrichment and welfare, puppy socialization, and taught ongoing classes for staff and volunteers. She further honed her skills at the East Bay SPCA where she taught public dog training classes. Torie is an Honors graduate of The Academy for Dog Trainers, an advanced two-year course of study that is highly regarded as the “Harvard for dog trainers.” She is a Professional Canine Behavior Consultant (Accredited) and a Certified Professional Dog Trainer, Knowledge-Assessed. She has also completed the Aggression in Dogs Master Course and is a member of Pet Professional Guild and the International Association of Animal Behavior Consultants. No matter the problem, Torie is well equipped to provide solutions. As a lifelong animal welfare advocate, she never has and never will use pain or fear to make a dog behave.
I am the owner of Well Done Charlie LLC, a dog training company based in Washington, D.C. I specialize in helping fearful dogs in general, and dogs with separation anxiety in particular. I was born in Australia, grew up in England, and spent much of my career as a journalist before switching to dog training. I now live in the United States and spend several months a year working across time zones from Italy.
Tess worked with dogs in rescue environments and veterinary clinics before earning her Certificate in Training & Counseling through the Academy for Dog Trainers, where she graduated with honours.
