Separation anxiety is an emotional problem based on a dog’s very real and truly morbid fear of being alone. A phobia, much like being afraid of heights or spiders.
Unless the dog training community recognizes this — and helps our clients recognize this — our methods will fail. We need to change how a dog feels about being left in order to change the home-alone behavior.
It’s why tactics like crate training, barking it out, and no follow routines don’t work. They address the symptoms (at best), but do nothing to change the emotion that drives the behavior. In fact, some of them create more fear, not less.
That’s why clients end up wasting so much time, money, and emotional energy on things that have no hope of working.
The answers doesn’t lie with the quick-fix showmen on TikTok. The solution lies with you, because what lights you up is making the world a better place for dogs.

What if I can’t afford it right now?

1. Despite adding to the program yet again for 2024 (as I do every year), I've kept the price of the program extremely competitve (while keeping the quality insanely high).
2. I'm offering a 12-pay option, so you can spread payments over twelve months. What's the curriculum?
The curriculum covers all the skills and competencies required for certification. You can learn more here.How long does the course take?
The taught component of the course takes 8 weeks. After that, you'll need to complete the required assessments in order to graduate. You can graduate in as little as ten weeks but you can also take up to six months to complete the assessments.What do I need to do to graduate?
You'll need to pass three assessments:- The Departure Plan-Building Assignment.
- A 35 question online test.
- The Client Practical, which is a session with a real client.
Do I need to find my own clients for the coursework?
No, it’s all good. I’ve got 100s of clients in my separation anxiety membership group and they all love to volunteer for the practicals.Is it true that cases are done online and remotely?
Yes, 100%. It’s the best, and only way, to work with separation anxiety. Working online is not only good for training efficiency, it’s great for productivity and life-balance. The more I do this work, the more I've realized that training doesn't describe what we do. We don’t train humans, and we don’t train dogs.
